Wild Horse Campground at Perry State Park includes 16 sites with water/electricity (8 pull thru and 8 back in); each site has two pens. Shower house, modern bathroom nearby with hitching rails. Large primitive camping area. Water hydrant near Trailhead A with hitching rail. Additional hydrants near the primitive camp area, as well as 24 pens. A shower house and shelter house are being added to Wild Horse Campground.

Approximately 40+ miles of trails traverse Corps of Engineers and Perry State Park property on west side of lake. Native oak and hickory woodlands, hills, rocks, streams, open prairie. Trails originating from State Park are easy to moderate. Rocky Top, 10.5+ miles, Wild Horse, 6+ miles and Hickory Acres, 7+ miles. The new 1.5 mile Jackalope Trail surrounds Wild Horse Camprounds. Trails accessed from Thompsonville trailhead are more challenging. Both areas are managed by Perry State Park.

Thompsonville is located at west end of dam on Corps land with day use parking at trailhead. No permits or fees required. Covered shelter house with picnic table.  Thompsonville has 10.5+ miles of trails and can be accessed by taking Hwy 24 to Thompsonville Rd, take first left turn; then right at next corner, and right to parking along roadside. Thompsonville trails can also be accessed from the SE corner of the Rocky Top Trails.  Coming soon is a second day use parking area in the SE corner of Rocky Top Trails to provide easy access to both Rocky Top and Thompsonville trails. 

Less than 20 minutes from Topeka or Lawrence.
